So far over 70% of applicants for the Citizens Redistricting Committee are white and male, and 51% of applicants are
over age 55. The State of California Bureau of Audits is scrambling to encourage a wider range of people to apply.
The final 14 selected will be from a random drawing so it's important to get diversity into the pool.
If the pool does not become more representative of California's
population, this new redistricting experiment might not be allowed to go forward. The old way of doing business
will be back. The politicians and lawmakers will draw the lines for the legislative districts.
Don't let it happen. Apply now. Women, young people, all colors, all groups, encouraged to apply. Deadline
February 12.
